Procedure: Flubber (Slime)

Flubber

Over the years I have made many different types of slimes or goo, using everything from corn starch to soap, and this recipe, by far, takes the cake. My peers, my students and their parents all LOVE this flubber!

We made this as a Science experiment in Grade 2 and integrated it into an English lesson as part of our procedure text-type writing.

What you need:

·         Elmers white glue (I found this at Office Works)
·         Borax (Bunnings)
·         Food colouring/paint
·         Water
·         2 jars with lids
·         2 bowls
·         1 measuring cup

Method:

1.      Mix four cups of warm water in the bowl, with ¼ cup of Borax. Stir until dissolved.
2.      In the first jar, mix one cup of glue with one cup of water.
3.      Add a few drops of food colouring or paint.
4.      Shake well.
5.    In the second bowl, pour one cup of the Borax solution with ¼ of the glue solution. It instantly thickens.
6.      Remove and knead.
7.      Store in sealed container.

Enjoy!
