My Grade 1 students made these sunflowers as part of our
‘Living Things’ unit last year.
First, we read a story about the life cycle of a sunflower and discussed the phases. The we created this magnificent display.
To create the artwork, the students drew the outline of the flower in lead pencil, then coloured using oil pastels, and finally painted over the top using edicol
dye.
A photo was taken of the class display and the images framed and made into cards. They were sold as a part of a fundraiser at the school’s Spring Fete and proved very popular because of their bright colours.
